So there we were, several years down the line since anything interesting had happened in the TBC camp. At least in Skoda terms.

Pete Boddy managed to get to Banjul on the 2004 Plymouth - Banjul challenge in a Vauxhall Astra (Mk3) Estate. John Pearson / IJ had completed the Mk1 Escort that took 18 months of their evenings, only for John to discover he didn't enjoy it as much as he thought he would. So they built a Vauxhall Astra (Mk3) Enduro car instead and did the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Lombard Rallies, John's now doing the BTRDA "Rally First" championship in the same car. IJ bought a (Mk3) Astra to replace his previous road car.

You can see a pattern forming here, we can tell.

Well fear not Skoda fans, both of you. As IJ's Astra decided to snap its cambelt on the motorway, he was already wondering about a "one owner from new Favorit" with 13k on the clock which JP had seen at a garage.

The chance to have spares commonality for his fleet of cars was irresistable.....
