A Page About Team Bouncing Czech
"Team Bouncing Czech" is/was the collective name for Carlton and District Motor Club's Skoda owners. For some reason, these individuals seem to think that the way to motorsport nirvana is/was to take an underpowered Czech constructed car and weigh it down with lots of safety equipment - which obviously does nothing for the top speed and then attempt/fail to play rally drivers with it.
Over the last 18 years, they have managed to use and abuse 8 Skoda Estelles and two Favorits, which appear to have sneaked in while no-one was looking.

TBC started back in 1988 with two stage prepared Estelles belonging to Andy Smedley and Pete Boddy, then Dick Lumb joined in with two more Estelles, swiftly followed by Phil Stead with another. It was all downhill from there. Events were normally contested in and around the East Midlands, which at least meant that it wasn't too far to return to Nottingham on a tow rope during the early learning curve.
The learning curve back then included working on the car on the drive in all weathers, stopping dampers punching through wishbones, learning to put timing chains on correctly, which aerosols make the best flamethrowers, a lot of bodywork, how not to flick lit matches at your teammates in pubs and that lots of drinking the night before an event is not a good idea.
Experience was gained over the years, culminating in assaults on the Skoda Trophy in 1990-91 (Dick Lumb - Estelle 130L) and 1994-95 (Pete Boddy - Favorit)
Although not aspiring to such lofty heights as competing on the Network Q RAC Rally (Pete Boddy/Eddie Beilby - Last overall - 1995) TBC members still play an active role competing in the East Midlands, just not in Skodas so often these days. We advise you that if you see a Skoda on an event in the area.....It might not be us!
