This compilation of tracks recorded in the Cuban Boys'
own studio came out on May 24th, 1999. "Cuban Boy"
and "Stardust" gained airplay on the John Peel
Show in 1998, "Stardust" becoming one of Peel's
top songs of November. The Festive 50 smash "Oh My
God! They Killed Kenny" is heard here in a brand
new remixed version, and "Foggy Mountain Breakdown",
another Peel Show choice, also appears in a remixed form. |

After
many delays over sample clearance, the John Peel favourite
"Cognoscenti Vs. Intelligentsia" made it's
appearance in record stores on December 13th,1999. After
a week it had sold over 100,000 copies and made it to
number 4 in the UK charts. Sampling the old Roger Miller
song, "Whistlestop", the song is sure to inspire
countless shoddy imitators. Tracks 2 and 3 remain exclusive
to this single. A 12" vinyl format was issued in
Europe, featuring an extra "Shuffle mix" of
"C Vs. I"

Delays
seem to feature heavily in the Cubans work ethic, and
this long-awaited single finally made it's appearance
in June 2000. Packaged in a semi-3D plastic football
sleeve, the gimmicky artwork was designed to point out
the fact that the song, with it's chorus of "We're
just a bunch of losers", was the Cuban Boys unofficial
Euro 2000 anthem. As the single was a limited edition
on the band's own label, chart success was not an option,
so five songs were included. "Czar Zoo" and
"My Clone" appeared in very different forms
to the versions on the 'eastwood' album, with "The
Tainted Man" as an exclusive extra.

After
months of delay, the Cuban Boys' album was smuggled
out of the pressing plant in a small wheel-barrow, at
night, hidden under a large blanket. Overall, nearly
every illegal sample had been re-recorded to the point
of absurdity, and although the album was met with the
odd shout of 'hoorah!' it wasn't quite the beast the
band had hoped for. Not many copies were pressed, not
many copies were sold - but that probably makes it even
more of a collectors' item?
