15 March 2003 Update

Maintenance of the RUCINE pages has ceased so some of the links will become invalid. Valid links of interest to RUCINE supporters will be transferred to the RLS "External" page. The RUCINE pages will remain on the RLS site for a few months at least. The offer to publicise events of interest to RUCINE supporters (see bottom of this page) remains, but information should be forwarded at least two weeks in advance of the event.

June 2002 Newsletter

This page features the latest newsletter for members/supporters of RUCINE - the Russian Circle in the North East produced by Les Sheppard and which is also circulated by post.

Dear Colleague,

The next social gathering has been arranged for Saturday 1 June 2002 at 7.30 pm at the Durham Labour Club, 24a Claypath in Durham. In addition to some free 'demo' CDs for the Ruslan Russian language course on CDROMS (see link below) there will be some news on special offers for flights from London to Minsk by "Belavia" Belarusian Airlines.

We have returned to our normal routine of a buffet. Les and Olga will try to coordinate the food balance, if you wish to 'phone us on 0191 3771984. Please bring some sort of savoury or sweet dish.

The "Yellow Pages" booklet called "Úðèòàííÿ Äëÿ Âàñ" in Russian, produced by the London - Info Publishing House is still available free of charge. If you require a copy, please telephone 0906 5580558. It appears to be a useful reference book.

A future RUCINE gathering is planned for Saturday 5 October 2002.

A reminder: -

It was agreed at the meeting in January that all our colleagues would contribute 3 pounds per family per year to RUCINE, to offset the administrative costs. Les will be available to collect the fee from those still to pay at the 1 June gathering.

We look forward to seeing you.

Les Sheppard
