No remote?
After some seriously good reviews for the BardOne, BardUSB and the revolutionary Bardthree products, there are one or two of you out there who feel that the Bard system should have remote control support, especially for the Bardthree.
Well, the BardThree is like a power amp, and much like such things, active speakers or even the Apple Airport express we rely on the source/ pre amp for control. We think it makes far better sense for the user to control the source (say the pre-amp or the PC) rather than simply controlling the volume of the Bardthree remotely, but can't change what you are listening to.
With this in mind we actively recommend to our customers and dealers a number of suitable, cost effective third-party, remote systems:
1. Griffin Airclick
The AirCickUSB is a good example at around £26. This is a very good handset which controls iTunes, Real Player and Media player etc. and its RF so like the BardThree works through walls too!
2. Edio remote solutions
There are also IR remotes on the market such as the Edio remote abailable from around £15. It is configurable and works quite well with most software.
3. PDA Windows Media Control
Of course, anyone with a Pocket PC mobile or PDA can remotely access their play list if they have a WLAN card. We have one and it works pretty well. Price starts at £0 if you upgrade your mobile Phone, or take a look at Windows Media Control:
The Bardaudio system can easily integrate itself into any existing multi-room system where the Infra-red relays are already in place, as you will only need to transmit the audio. For more information about Infra-red relays, just ask your local HI Fi retailer.
