Spanish shores have finally welcomed Sonneteer. The high end British brand have appointed LAB Electronics Spain to be their Spanish representatives.

A newly formed outfit run by a Mr Christian Frey is the sister company of Sonneteer's Swiss distribution partner Lab Electronics.

Lab Spains website was launched in Spetember and has full descriptions of all current Sonneteer products in both Spanish and English. A spokesperson on behalf of Sonneteer was quoted as saying " We are very satisfied and impressed with Lab Spain's organisation and look forward to a good long term partnership with them."

Handled and sponsored by the Portuguese Audio Magasine. and held at the ISCTE Institute on the weekend of 26/27 and 28 of September this annual showcase of high end audio was attended by nearly 8000 visitors.

High End British audio brand Sonneteer were represented this year by their distributor in Portugal, Luz E Som which is run by Fransisco Monteiro.

On show was Sonneteers range of highly acclaimed products including the Bronte Digital amplifier and CD player which were review by Cinema Em Casa Portugal in Sep 2002. An English translated extract is given here:

“This is an ensemble truly out of the vulgarity. We can say, finally, that the digital amplification technology is now mature and as achieved a level of performance that can compete with the good analogue amplifiers. Is sonority give us the sensation of amplitude and of a musical “generosity” difficult to beat, even in the case of the Quad ESL 53, that they are not a simple linear charge.

Congratulations to the Sonneteer engineers, because they have launch on the market a couple of products capable of, in terms dynamics and spatiality to give us the sensation that we really are hearing music.”

A sneak preview of the new high end analogue amplifier from Sonneteer is now available on their website. Sonneteer have decided to give the world a small insight into their development process by giving us a taste of the new Orton which, as they say, will be ready when they are.

Having spent the better part of the last year pushing their digital exploits the Sonneteer team have gone back to their roots and have been working on a high end analogue amplifier. Details are as yet very sketchy, but we can tell you that it will not be a replacement model for any of the current range. The Sonneteer Orton will be positioned at a much higher level pricewise than existing Sonneteer branded products. Alabaster and Campion fans need not be concerned.

Those of us who were expecting a development on the digital front need not be concerned either. Sources close to the development team have told us that analogue and digital amplification technologies are being developed in parallel and without particular preference given to either.
