Software for literacy
These can include
- Spelling
programs (e.g. Starspell) where the teacher can put in lists of words which
the program practices with the children
- Text
disclosure programs (particularly Sherlock, Tray, All My Words). A piece of
text is ‘developed’ by predicting letters and words.
Software for Special needs:
- Speaking
software (Textease, Talking First Word, FullPhase) which supports writing by
saying words as you type
- ‘Word
bank’ software. A child clicks on a word in a word bank and it writes
itself into the word-processor page (notably Clicker, Textease)
