Re: drafting

Making good poems better

These workshops are designed to help you develop your poetry writing. The main emphasis will not be on giving you things to write about, but bringing work you have already started and making it better. Sessions will be practical and interactive, and no previous experience is required – just a love of writing and a willingness to experiment.

We will include at the following topics:

  • techniques of workshopping and redrafting
  • working with ‘form’
  • the use of line-breaks to shape your poem
  • finding good titles
  • making the most of your word-processor
  • approaching your own work as a friendly critic
  • audiences for your poetry – magazines, competitions and other publications.
