Made for Christmas 2003. The theme is kinda alt country / Americana, and the tracks a mix of old and new. The Evan Dando single is the newest and was at least partially the inspiration, several of the songs come from 7”s (The Keys, Colin Michael Gagon & Nixon’s Nikon, The Broken Family Band and The Golden Virgins), while the last couple of tracks were Taken from two of my favourite albums of the year, My Morning Jacket’s ‘It Still Moves’ and The National’s ‘Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers’.

Made for Manish’s 22nd Birthday. We used to listen to lots of music late at night sitting in the dark. This kinda tries to capture that atmosphere. There are a few epic length songs on here and several other that feel like they are. The Warlocks appear again, ‘Whips Of Mercy’ is ace (very Velvety), I had forgotten how good Terris sounded, the Hope Of The States track is probability my favourite on here. Things end with ‘Fireworks’ and then a live version of ‘Car Wash Hair’.

Made for Emma’s 21st birthday. Most of the songs are quite poppy are instant. I really like the Cranebuilders and Dump (the guy from Yo La Tengo) songs. The second half is a bit rockier, the Warlocks are one of my favourite bands at the moment, things end with Pavement’s ‘Here’, the last song they ever played, ‘Come join us in a prayer, we’ll be waiting waiting where, everything’s ending here’.
