PCC approves application

At the PCC meeting on 12th May 2008, the PCC agreed to apply for a Faculty for the Scheme presented to the congregation on 30th March 2008. Voting was 17 for, 3 against, and one abstention.

May 2009

DAC At its meeting on Monday 11th May, the Diocesan Advisory Committee approved a Faculty Application with regard to the re-ordering of St Chad 's. The Statutory Notices are now displayed on the church porch gates and noticeboard

April 2009

Detailed specifications will be placed before the May meeting of the Diocesan Advisory Committee prior to the posting of the Statutory Notice. After that the matter is routinely referred to the Diocesan Chancellor. Bearing in mind the Chancellor's other commitments, the summer holidays, the acquiring of tenders, and the desirability of keeping the church functional for Christmas, extensive work within the building may not commence until the New Year.

March 2009 - Re-ordering – Faculty Application

The Diocesan Advisory Committee is still seeking clarification on some aspects of the plans for re-ordering. It is now hoped that these will be resolved, and a Faculty application approved, at its meeting in early March . If so, the statutory notices (See opposite) will be posted shortly afterwards on the church drive notice board and on the church gates.

Although the re-ordering plans affect mainly those who attend church regularly, St Chad's is a Parish Church and in that sense belongs to everyone in the parish, of whatever denomination or none, as well as all those in the pews or on the electoral roll.

You should base your argument on the Statements of Significance and Need, and not on the financial costs or implications. In other words, are the changes needed, will the plans achieve the desired outcomes, and is any feature of historical or architectural significance likely to be compromised? There is a fair and thorough process for considering objections, so your time will not be wasted.

Any comments should be addressed to the Chancellor of the Diocese and sent to Mrs Nicola Harding, Ripon & Leeds Diocesan Registry, Cathedral Chambers, 4 Kirkgate, Ripon , HG4 1PA .

February 2009
Following a re-visit to St Chad 's by some of its members, the Diocesan Advisory Committee has written to the PCC Secretary to say that it is ‘happy with the overall plans'. The Committee is seeking clarification on minor issues concerning the proposed kitchen/toilet area, entrance area, and altar rail design. The re-ordering will again be on the DAC's agenda at its February meeting on Monday 9th. If the DAC approves a Faculty Application at that meeting, the statutory notices will be posted shortly afterwards on the church drive notice board and on the church gates.(See opposite)
