‘...another time'

Second Tuesday of the month in the Parish Centre at 7.30pm

Our experiences of God, meeting together and asking questions about faith, all change and develop with time. Following on from an Advent Course 2 years ago, members sought a chance for discussion and informal worship, that they hoped was easier for people to come to than a Home Group, where relationships had developed over the years people had met.

Out of this ‘...another time' was born, on the Second Tuesday of the month, in the Parish Centre, at 7.30 pm, with coffee, cake and biscuits. This is a chance to meet each other and God…
to chat, pray, sing, eat, question and we hope to enrich the lives of all those there.

This is not ‘house group' or ‘mid week service'; it could be ‘church', but not as we know it;
it is completely different. Come and see

  New possibilities...

With every New Year comes a sense of renewal. It's not always a comfortable feeling but it is an opportunity to reassess where we are. Some will still make New Year's resolutions in a bid to tackle areas of their life they are not happy with.

But what if we stood further back and looked at who we are as a whole person? Am I where I imagined I'd be 5/10 years ago? Am I content with where I am? Do I feel a sense of direction and purpose in my life? Do I know what I believe?

These questions may seem too big to ask. But it is only through taking a step back occasionally that we can look at where we have come from and where we are going. And often it takes someone (or a group of someone's) to act as reference points – people that can give us an outside perspective on where we are.

That is why we open an invitation to anyone interested, to join the ‘Confirmation Classes' starting at the end of January. The title is very off-putting, but let me say that they are NOT about grooming people to fit into any kind of mould nor are they just for those who know they want to be confirmed. They are about having the opportunity as a group to explore together some of the big questions that surround us and help us understand who we are and how we fit in. There will be no judgements made and every question asked is a valid question.

I remember having this opportunity as a student in a student group. It was a safe environment to ask even the most basic, the most rude of questions and to discuss our many points of view. We rarely agreed on anything but it brought me back to a faith that I had all but laid aside. I believe everyone should have such an opportunity.

Adult classes will take place at our house with tea and cake provided. We invite you to join us for as many sessions as you can and explore what you believe about God and yourself as we begin a new year together. For more information, please do talk to me, Steve, Nigel Greenwood or Peter Hemming as the course leaders. Contact details are at the front of the magazine.

Wishing you every blessing for a New Year
