Home Group #1 Home Groups at St Chad's meet for two hours each week, in someone's home in the area. There are generally 6 – 10 people in a group who meet to read the bible, both old and new testaments, usually using a study guide to promote discussion and prayer. Refreshments are provided by the hosts: each session is relaxed and quite informal. I've found that the Home Groups really help us to explore our faith and understanding, with the opportunity to ask questions and share faith experiences with others. Peter Hemming, who usually leads the groups, prepares and researches material to make the meetings interesting and worthwhile. I would recommend joining a Home Group as a means of making friends, sharing time together and allowing you to grow and deepen your Christian journey as you listen and put time aside to spend with God. Mary HendersonAt the moment, home group meets on Wednesday morning each week and ‘...another time' once a month on Tuesday evening. If you are interested in coming, to find out more please ring Peter Hemming (0113 2782735) or Mary Henderson (0113 2757116) for more details.

Home Group #2Until I joined Peter Hemming's Home Group, my main, but fairly infrequent, forays into The Bible were usually to familiarise myself with readings for church services, or reading through the daily ‘New Daylight' extracts*, both of which are, of course, done in isolation. What a revelation it has been, therefore, to meet as a member of a small group to discuss selected parts of The Bible in an atmosphere where one can do so openly and without any embarrassment or rancour, even though there may be differing views put forward. One aspect which I have found to be both helpful and interesting is the correlation of the Biblical and the historical, greatly assisted by Peter's notes, suggestions and frequently awkward questions! We are currently working our way through the E100 ‘journey'. From my own perspective, membership of the Group has strengthened and deepened already existing friendships and I look forward to these morning meetings with expectation. I commend them to you!
