Elements
of Rock 2012 - March 17th & 18th - Weekend
Goings On!
We
started off early on Saturday morning, (Andy
slightly earlier than the rest of us, getting up at 3am)
Left for
Birmingham airport to catch an 8:45am (GMT)
Swiss Air flight arriving in Zurich at around 11:40am; we were met
by EoR staff at the airport and travelled a 20 min journey to the
venue in Uster.
We were
introduced to Andrea, who looked after us during the weekend; sound
checked almost as soon as we arrived at around 1:30pm and then
enjoyed the beautiful 20ºC Swiss sunshine for the next few
hours, drinking a few beers and enjoying a late luncheon -
chatted with a few guys from some of the other bands who were playing
the festival, and then off to do an interview with an Italian mag,
after which we prepared ourselves for the gig.
Went on
stage almost to time at 6.30pm and had a blast on stage; thanks to
everyone in the audience for your enthusiasm and VOLUME!! and to
everyone we met and talked with after the gig, you're all stars!!
Set List:
Souls of Zion
Under
the Gun
Walk Away
Fly with
the Spirit
Lead Us
Stop the Pain
And the
righteous shall be saved...
The
Great Whore of Babylon
Death
and Destruction
What
Lies Within
Anybody There
Wishing Well.
We had a
good meal, after which we watched the next 3 bands: Opus Irae, Barren
Cross and Dark Sky - packed our stuff up and left the venue at around
12am (Swiss time) to be driven to our accommodation for the night, 5
mins drive away.

Awoke on
Sunday morning, welcomed again by the lovely Swiss 20ºC
sunshine, had breakfast with coffee, tea, orange juice and more
coffee - we were then driven to Zurich airport for our 12.20pm return
flight home, (not
sure the 'quick', self service, touch screen booking in system is
really that quick! A lot of confused people!!)
arriving back at Birmingham airport around 1.30pm (GMT)
to a cold 7ºC.
Thanks
to everyone at Elements of Rock who made us so welcome: Markus,
Andrea, Samuel, Matthias, our two drivers, all the staff, security,
stage hands, sound guys, lighting guys and most of all, you the fans,
it was a real honour to be able to come and play for you in
Switzerland - we had a blast! ;-)
Thanks a lot!
See ya soon!
Pete,
Andy & Graeme.
