Would you like a brass band to provide music at your event? Well why not book the Cubbington Silver Band. The Cubbington Silver Band can provide a range of different types of musical programmes to suit most occasions. We can feature as the main event, as guests in a larger concert or provide background music for award ceremonies, garden parties, fêtes etc. The choice is yours. We can also provide complete concert facilities if required. Why not leave it to us to provide the programme, compère and guest  artistes?

We can also cater for more specialised requirements. It maybe that you require a particular piece of music to be played. You may not want a whole band but just a small ensemble. Whatever your requirements, we can help.

Whatever your requirements we can offer you a whole range of choices that will make your event all the more memorable to you and your audience.

Listed below are a few points to consider and some questions designed to help us tailor our performance to your needs.

Band Requirements

The Band needs an area of 9m x 9m in which to play, a full size brass band is larger than you think. There are twenty-seven brass players, three percussionists and the Musical Director. We do not provide our own chairs so we will need you to provide 30 chairs. Unfortunately the Band cannot squash up any smaller than this as it will restrict our ability to play.

Is the Band playing inside or outside? Is there a raised platform or stage area?

If the Band is playing outside, we would be grateful if you consider the following:

1. What contingencies are there if it rains? The Band is unable to perform in the rain as it soaks the music and damages some of the instruments.
2. The sun, the Band would need shelter or shade from the sun.
3. The Band prefers to play on a hard surface rather than grass as our Bass Players have a tendency to sink due to the weight of the instruments!
4. Some of the heavier and bulkier instruments, such as percussion,  are carried in cars and it would be appreciated if we could drop the instruments off at the position where we are performing.

 

When can the Band pack up the instruments and leave? i.e. after it has played or after a following performance?

Is there any place for the Band to change into their uniforms and store instrument cases etc. whilst playing?

Is there any provision for Band Members to park their cars?

Are there any refreshments available for the Band?

We have a number of enthusiastic followers who like to hear the Band perform. Would they be allowed to attend?

The Band has its own Merchandise Stall, would we be allowed to bring this to your event?

Time

At what time did you envisage the performance commencing at? The Band would need to arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance to set up, unless otherwise requested.

How long would you like the band to play for? For example, two 30 minute performances, say from 7.30p.m. to 8.00p.m. and then from 8.30p.m. to 9.00p.m. Please bear in mind that the Band can only play for a maximum of two hours with breaks as our players lips get tired and are then unable to give their best.

Presentation

Is there a Master of Ceremonies or compère? Would you like our own Musical Director to introduce the music?

Are you producing a programme for the event? If so, are there any details you would need from the Band?

Is there any special music you would like the Band to perform? If so, we would need up to six weeks notice if it is not already in our répertoire.
