New Forest East constituency profile

New Forest East is made up of two very different areas. A large part of the Forest is within the constituency including such tourist centres as Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst. But the most significant area is alongside Southampton Water. Here lie the residential areas of Totton and Fawley. It is also the area where most of the constituency's employment is based in industries such as petrochemicals and manufacturing. The Fawley refinery is the largest in Western Europe. Unemployment is low and levels of owner-occupation high at 81% with 83.8% having access to a car.
