Maintained by Steve Banks.

I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER CO-ORDINATING THE NETWORK. ARE YOU INTERESTED? DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE? Please contact me at stillpoint.centre@virgin.net .

This page offers 3 facilities for men interested in finding out about men's groups and workshops:

  1. UK Men for Change Network. This is a national network of men who have agreed to act as local contact points for men looking for men's groups, or who are interested in menswork.

  2. Men's Group Notice Board. This is a space where men's groups can advertise free if they are looking for new members, and where individual men can advertise that they are looking for a group, or that they would like to form a group in their area.

  3. Menswork Listings. This is a list of professionally led men's groups, peer groups, workshops, organisations, websites and othe resources available in the UK. If you want to advertise your group, workshop, organisation etc. here free, please send me brief information (stillpoint.centre@virgin.net) .

UK MEN for CHANGE Network

The aim of the Men for Change Network is to help men get in touch with other men in order to join or form local groups and networks. The men listed below have agreed to act as local contacts. We would like to hear from men in areas not yet well served. To join the Network, please eMail me, Steve Banks (I am the central co-ordinater of the network), at stillpoint.centre@virgin.net.

If you are one of the people in the network, and the following details are no longer correct, please let me know. Likewise, if you try contacting someone in the network, and the information given here is incorrect, please let me know so that I can keep this page as up to date as possible. Thank you.

Workshop leaders and advice on running a men's group

There are a large number of men throughout the country who are experienced and skilled in running men's groups. They could either help you start a group, or run a day or weekend workshop with a group, or might be able to attend a group to provide input into what to do in a men's group. Please contact me if you wish to discuss this further. There would probably be some cost involved.

Men, Masculinities, and Poverty in the UK was commissioned by Oxfam's UK Poverty Programme to explore how changing economic, social, and political circumstances are affecting gender relations. In his report, Sandy Ruxton draws upon both a detailed review of the relevant literature and the experience of a wide range of community-based groups across the UK, in particular those working in the fields of employment training, men's health, gender-based violence, and fatherhood. He highlights the importance of using a coherent gender analysis to assess the nature, scope, and effectiveness of work with men which impacts on poverty and gender relations, and concludes with a series of recommendations for developing work with men in the UK in order to address poverty and gender inequality. The report is also intended to inform the development of Oxfam's work internationally around the theme of men and masculinities. N.B. A free summary is available on: www.oxfamgb.org/ukpp/resources/.
