Our new Rector

St Mary's has a new Rector: the Revd David Brammer was installed on Monday 12 January 2009.

The service of 'Collation and Induction' was like celebratory homecoming for David and his family. A congregation of 300 people representing David’s past, present and future ministry witnessed the ‘swearing in’ which began with drummers using African drums summoning the people to worship, a full choir in procession, and additional songs led by the Twyford High School Gospel Choir. The Bishop of Willesden’s charge was a call to be truly human, living lives in the spirit, walking in the way of the beatitudes, serving the congregation and the parish and working together with our brothers and sisters of other churches in the parish. The new Rector stated that this is a new and exciting episode in his and his family’s faith journey; a recognition of the call of God for David and his family to work in partnership with the congregation of St Mary's and the wider communion in Acton, to seek to be faithful servants of Christ in proclaiming and demonstrating the Christian gospel of love, building on the foundations of the devoted work of those who have gone before.

The evening ended with a feast fit for a king prepared lovingly by members of the congregation, with thanksgiving for the work of all involved during the interregnum.

David first came to St Mary's as a curate in 1999 and left three years later to become Associate Vicar at All Saints, Ealing Common. We are delighted to welcome him back along with his wife, Jill, and children Miles, Molly and Elise.
