George Cowper, pictured on the right, was born in 1822 in Newcastle-on-Tyne. He left for India in 1846 with the First Sapper's and Miner's. I do not know his wife's name. He had four children, at least some of which were born in India.

Glen Harrison Cowper was my great, great grandfather.

Glen Harrison Cowper

Glen was born April 4th 1855, in India. He married Mary Aileen Erskine who was born in 1866 also in India. They are pictured together on the right. He worked as the Assistant Superintendent of Telegraphs. He had six children. He died on his birthday in 1907 age 42 years. Aileen remarried, and died in 1930.

There mother's maiden name was hyphenated with Cowper to produce Erskine-Cowper and passed on to the children. Sometimes they appeared to use the name Cowper and sometimes Erskine-Cowper.

Douglas George Erskine-Cowper

Douglas, pictured right, was born on the 2nd of January 1892 in Jamalpore, India. He was a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery, 4th Battery, during the First World War. During the time he spent in India he had several different jobs, including a train driver and building the sewage works at Delhi. He married three time, his fist wife was Mercy Murphy, he had three children from this marriage. His second wife was Minnie Borissow, she is my great grandmother, they had two children, after her death he married Violet Bell. He died in 1963 in Brighton, England.
