BARCLODIAD Y GAWRES BURIAL CHAMBER

Pictures soon OS Map
OS Ref SH328708

If there is one site in Wales that you must see then this is probably first choice.

An impressive reconstructed mound overlooking the sea. An entrance from the north gives access to the inner chamber with three small side chambers.

The site was excavated in 1952-53.

The chamber is reached through a locked gate - the key is obtainable from the Wayside shop in Llanfaelog.

This is the only way to be able to see the patterned stones displaying spirals and lozenge patterns. There are five decorated stones, unfortunately some of the patterns are well worn.

Take a torch if you intend to visit.
