BRYN CELLI DDU CHAMBERED TOMB, ANGLESEY

A large grass covered mound edged with stones reveals a chambered tomb with a walk-in passage way from the north-east of 7m length as shown below.

The stone standing outside (picture left) is one of the few to bear the enigmatic patterns more commonly found in Ireland and Scotland and Brittany. This is a replica, the original stone is now in the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.

The passage opens out to a bigger chamber. On one side can be seen a shelf. There is a freestanding pillar and one of the walls has a feint spiral carved on it.
