ST. LYTHANS

Capstone supported by three stones OS Map 171
OS ref ST101723
West of Cardiff

This chambered long barrow is much smaller than nearby Tinkinswood Burial Chamber.

The triangular capstone is supported by three upright stones and it is estimated that the burial mound would have stretched for over 80 feet.

Legend states that the capstone will turn around three times on Midsummer's Eve and the stones will bathe in the river.

At one time it was believed that there was a curse on the field in which the stones stand and that nothing would grow.

If you want your wishes granted try whispering to the stones on Halloween - just another legend!
