Hair braiding can be done in several ways. Normally, synthetic extensions are braided into your natural hair. The colour can be the same or similar to your own hair colour, or one or more different colours. It is possible to braid your natural hair but this does not tend to last too long and often has less body to it. Braids can be simply braided from your scalp and hang down or 'corn rows' can be braided. These normally follow your scalp and then hang down at the back. Braids can be terminated by fusing the ends together with heat or using small elastic bands. You can also have beads at the ends or braided into the hair. It can take anything between 5 and 15 hours to braid hair depending on the length and thickness of the braids. In the case of 15 hours it may be better to braid over 2 days as it is a long time to be sat down having your hair done. Braids don't tend to tangle so they don't need a great deal of maintenance. A spray can be used to keep them in good condition. Depending on your hair and how you look after your braids they can last between one and three months. Eventually your hair will grow and they will need taking out and possibly redoing. Repairs can be made to make your braids last a while longer. Prices depend on what you want but the price is normally from £100.
