A Safety Policy is required by law for any company employing more than 5 persons.
The Health & Safety at Work, Etc 1974 Act requires that employers have in place a written Safety Policy if they employ more than 5 people, and that this policy is brought to the attention of those employees.
Reponsibility for this policy rests with the head of the company, although its day to day implementation may be delegated. Also if no-one within the company has the necessary skills to prepare the policy then outside assistance may be obtained in the drafting of it.
