I was born in Wimbledon

in 1952. After graduating from Art College in 1973

I travelled extensively throughout southern Africa where my passion for painting began. Returning to England in 1980 I continued to paint, mainly in watercolour, and sold through local galleries and to private collectors.

When my family and I first moved from Kingston on Thames to Herefordshire in 1994, I must admit to being completely overwhelmed by the vast amount of scenery that surrounded me! As an artist I was somewhat at a loss to know where to begin. I realised I would have to find myself a different view of this part of the world. I began to seek out small corners; details that are often missed in the bigger picture, or the play of light on otherwise ordinary objects. Gradually I started using pastels in conjunction with my usual watercolours because I found I wanted more depth and intensity of colour, and some of the subjects became more abstracted as I worked to convey atmosphere. Over the last three years I have also returned to painting on canvas and am enjoying the effects I can achieve.

My work is regularly exhibited in a number of galleries across the country and exists in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Greece and Cyprus, as well as across the UK.
