The Rule of the People and the Birth of a True Democracy
The time has come to give the electorate a modern voting system where people can log on and vote from their own homes. A voting system that allows the people to vote at general elections and to vote for or against any government policy like the European Union. The old age system of polling stations is really an insult to the people of the New Age. Why have the technology and not use it? Perhaps the government does not want to listen to the will of the people because it may interfere with their own unpopular agendas.
Now we have the technology for people to actively participate in the governing of their country. This product of technology could be called the 'Electronic Referendum System' (ERS). That is a system of direct almost instant referendums, via a dedicated electronic terminal, allowing the people to vote for or against government policies, taxes and laws.
Democracy in the New Age should now be redefined as pseudo democracy and True Democracy. Pseudo democracy is where the people elect a political party to make all the decisions for them, regardless of whether the people like those decisions or not. This is a form of political slavery because the people have no say in what the government does after the general election. True Democracy is where people elect a government to make intelligent proposals that the people can either accept or reject. This is the freedom of the people to voice their Governing Vote by a system of direct referendums.
The Electronic Referendum System is the true 'Power of the People' in the Age of Aquarius, and it is what all governments should respect as a fundamental right of the people of all nations. Freedom is the keynote for the New Age, which includes freedom from political domination and pseudo democracy. Why elect a political party when they say anything to get elected then change their minds, without consulting the people, and do something else? Once in power they dictate by pseudo democracy what taxes must be paid, what laws will be imposed, what wars must be fought, all without consulting the people. The flaw is in the present political system that allows them to do this. It does not matter what party gets into power because they all use the same old age political system of pseudo democracy.
However, the present political systems can easily be changed and governments can eventually become like intelligent machines that the people use to govern their respective counties. The first party to introduce the Rule of the People with its Governing Vote will herald the birth of New Age Politics for the People. They will transform the old age political system by transferring the power of government back to the people. Then policy parties will be elected to intelligently educate, inform, propose and guide the people, who will govern by the method of direct referendums via some sort of secure ERS network.
Once the people realise that they can actively be part of the decision making of their country they will elect the appropriate parties to guide them and they will create a national awareness of the Rule of the People with its Governing Vote.
A nation is composed of people and they elect a few of their fellow citizens to form a government on their behalf. The government is or should be the servant of the people. Until the advent of high technology we had to rely upon the integrity and ethics of the elected party to represent the will of the people. But history has shown how the governing parties were usually more interested in representing themselves than the will of people. An example would be the government vote on tuition fees. Where Labour MPs, who were against top up fees, were bought off by the government whips with the promise of influence or handouts. It is a terrible disgrace when an MP's integrity can be bought for a favour or a free holiday. This practice is common to all political parties. Openly and willingly toeing the party line is one thing, but being pressured or bided to do so is an infringement of an MP's integrity and an insult to the electorate

The Power of the People is like a precious jewel that had to be loaned to those who are elected to run the country. For a brief moment the jewel of power is rightfully in the hands of the people so they can elect a new government, then the power is instantly snatched away by whatever party wins the election. This is old age political domination of the people. The power, which belongs to the people, must remain with the people. With present day technology the jewel of power need never be taken from the people again. When the jewel of power is returned to the people so they can elect a new government they can simply refuse to loan it out. They can insist on keeping the Governing Vote and elect only those individuals and parties who agree with the Rule of the People.
In the beginning New Age Politics will come into operation gradually. The direct referendum system will at first be crude and used for only a few key issues that the people want to use their Governing Vote on. The initial referendum system may well use the existing telephone system and voters could have their personal voting password linked to the electoral roll and their telephone number. However, it would only be temporary because a dedicated system would follow where each home would have an electronic connection to the central system. They would log on to the system, similar to using the Internet, where they would see the various proposals and how the voting was going. On each proposal they would then cast their vote for or against. It would be that simple. Of cause there would also be live television coverage to make it more interactive for the public. Within a decade the direct referendum system could be perfected and it would become a natural and important part of everyone's life.
The argument that the public will not be bothered to vote is nonsense. Ask the public if they would like to vote for or against government proposals on things like: the reintroduction of Poll Tax, the European Union, the tax on petrol or any new laws or regulations? You will find that they most certainly would like and use the Governing Vote of direct referendums. And ask the public, Should the people decide what issues to vote on, or should the government decide what issues the people can vote on? If left to the government they will only let the people vote on issues that do not effect their own political agendas. Far better to let the people choose what they will vote on. This is their nation and their democracy. Why elect a government that tells you what to do and what not to do? Far better to elect a government that asks what you want and what you do not want, that is a government for the people and not for themselves.
What is amazing is that such a simple thing as giving the freedom of direct referendums to the people to voice their Governing Vote will demonstrate the working of a True Democracy, which will eventually set the standard for every other nation. It will be the people of the other nations who will then demand the right to adopt the same principle and have their own Governing Vote. People inherently want the freedom to choose because it is their right. Once they have the Governing Vote they will never relinquish it again for the political tyrants and pseudo democracy of old age politics.
The impact of this new freedom will be monumental. It will be a turning point in the history of humanity and the foundation on which the New Age of Aquarius is built. No nation will be exempt for the people of every country will demand freedom from old age politics and insist on having a True Democracy, the Rule of the People and the ERS. Those who argue and fight against this new freedom are not for the people but for themselves. They want the people to remain subservient. And they cling to power and will do anything to keep it. But ultimately the people will prevail and they will build a New World Order from out of the old where slavery, human, political and commercial is forever vanquished.
The suffragettes had to campaign hard to gain the right for women to vote. What arrogance of the political system of those times to exclude women! Now men and women must campaign even harder for the freedom to rule through their government by an electronic referendum system.
The Electronic Referendum System could cost as little to implement as the Identity Card Scheme but no more than a week's contribution to the European slush fund. What would you prefer an identity card or the power to govern your country by a system of direct referendums? Or we have both and the ID card can then be used to securely access the central referendum system.
