Terry Bevan is a watercolour artist living in North Somerset,
he specialises in finely detailed paintings of town, country
and coastal scenes. He works mainly in the West Country and South
Wales.
Born on the Gower he spent his youth enjoying the wild coast
of that area. He trained in the West of England College of Art
as a Sculptor and went on to teach Art at Nailsea School before
leaving to work as a professional artist. Over the years he experimented
with different media before developing his own style and realising
that watercolour painting gave him the most satisfaction and
enabled him to portray the landscape as he saw it. His aim is
to convey the calmness and beauty of the scene without unnecessary
flourish or embellishment.
'I have no desire to artistically enhance a view or to make
an artistic impression of the landscape but to simply record
the natural beauty of the scene as it stands before me; to capture
the stillness of the day'
Terry has exhibited widely in Britain and Overseas and his
pictures are held in many private and public collections, including
Bristol and West-super-Mare Museums. Much of his work is by commission.
Prints, lithographs and greeting cards are available from his
original watercolour paintings and recently some of his images
have been produced as box canvas prints.
