Set up by Honda in January
1998, the Motorcycle Appreciation Course is designed to hone your skills with
possibly the finest network of Police Class 1 Advanced motorcycle
instructors. The 59 instructors are professional full time riders for MAC,
having completed the most comprehensive training available anywhere in the world
and been subject to regular and stringent reassessments for the entire time they
served in the police.
They are now available to
pass on this skill to you, via the MAC course. As always, you can contact
me on 01772 611132 if you want to discuss the course, or, more importantly, if
you want to book one. (Talk to anyone who has done a MAC course and they
will tell you how much more they have enjoyed riding since doing it. Go
on, spoil yourself, give me a ring, now!)
2001
Prices:- With a new Honda from approved dealer £120 for 2 day course. Second
hand bike or any other make £120 per day.
3 Region MAC covers the same
area as 3 Region HUKRC, that is the North West, Yorkshire & Humberside,
these are our instructors.

The first pic is of 'the boss' Allan Dobson, who is
the regional coordinator for 3 Region. He also does training,
attends HUKRC rideouts and is active in the motorcycle section of the
I.A.M. There has to be a downside ............. and that is the fact
that he is a regular supporter of Huddersfield Town Football Club. (
I suppose there has to be one!) |
| I knew this would come in useful sometime, a self portrait
of yours truly, MAC trainer, HUKRC liaison officer, sailor (if someone has
a berth on a boat, the bigger the better, let me know!) and sometime opera
singer. I've been in the chorus at Preston Opera for over 25 years
now and they still haven't discovered I cant sing! |
 |
| Les Packham MBE (Sir Les) is our instructor for the
West Yorkshire area. He got his award for services to road safety,
being an active member and examiner for the IAM. His main
claim to fame though is as an artist. He is a water colourist of
note, staging many large exhibitions (and selling his work to supplement
his meager income!) and regularly having his work displayed in that
illustrious magazine Yorkshire Life |
 |
 |
Peter Green, "Billy no Mates" to his friends, is
our instructor for Merseyside, parts of Manchester (and, he says, half of
Yorkshire as well!) He is the joker amongst us, having that famous scouse
humour, most of which it has to be said, is directed at people from
Merseyside. Peter's wife, Leslie, is also a keen biker and assists
on rideouts, holidays and the like. |
| Our expert George Formby impersonator, Kevin Jackson used
to race in the Manx Grand Prix, and did very well for someone without any
sponsorship. He shares the customers from Lancashire and Greater
Manchester areas with yours truly and, with Peter, teaches the rest of us
MAC guys how to get through the assessment at Cardington for our ADI
certificates. (not an easy job with that awkward lot!) |
