Starting at Bill Heads at Preston head north up the A6 to M6 J33,  leaving motorway at J35 Carnforth where we rejoin the A6 and head north, through Milnthorpe to join the A590 at Levens.

Continue along A590 to Newby Bridge and refreshments at The Swan Hotel.

Continue on A590 to Greenodd turning right onto A5092 (signed Whitehaven and Workington.) Continue on main road (becomes A595) to Silecroft,  turning right at T junction onto main coast road. Continue on main road (Petrol stop at Esso garage) until you pick up signs for Sellafield Visitor Centre  and our lunch stop. 

After visiting the exhibition, return along the A595 to Gosforth turning left onto unclassified roads following signs for Eskdale and Broughton, traveling over Ulpha Fell and the Duddon Valley until we rejoin the A595 at Duddon Bridge, turning left.  After a short distance turn left and HARD LEFT signed Coniston and then joining the A593 to Coniston and on to Ambleside and  stop at Waterhead Pier for refreshment.

We then travel the A591 through Windermere, the Kendal By Pass and to the M6 J36.  (J A65) Cross the motorway and turn right at next roundabout onto the A6070 through to Burton in Kendal to the Crooklands Hotel.  A short stop then those wishing to join the M6 and head home can do so OR, FOR THOSE STILL WANTING MORE, (depending on weather etc) follow your leaders through some more brilliant back roads through Caton and Quernmore etc back to Preston.
