This is a site dedicated to the 3 Gorges region of the Yangste river and how it was before the dam was closed and flooding started.

It is purely a personal image record of a wonderful holiday experience, not a political or ecological statement. If however it sets you thinking then scan the web there is a wealth of pro and anti pages to find.

Many of the images have a hazy appearance, this is caused by the large amount of polution in the atmosphere along the river. The source of this is the world's largest number of cement factories and concrete facilities, all of which are low grade coal fired. In six days on the river there was only one true clear day, and that was after a night of rain.
