Another Mower, this time from Don Incoll in Australia,
taken from his site (with his permission). He says" I called it the
'Victa Airtourer', the name coming from Australia's
most famous brand of lawnmowers, the 'Victa'.
Model is fitted with a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro, span of 22", and a weight of 4lb 6oz. Control is by ailerons on the base, elevator on the 'tank' part with the back half of the rear wheels acting as rudders.
The model flew for about one circuit when the engine decided to quit, the resulting glide was similar to a real lawnmower"
Bob E-mailed me to say he has built another one to replace his first one, which flew just the same.
Yet another mower, this time from the
Cape Ann RC Model Club.
Although this alt-"capemower"
model is also 'no longer with us', it did fly
for many years.
Other members of the club have built unorthodox models, including a 'flying STOP sign' and a 'witch' similar to my own.
This is the latest model from our 'Leader' - Terry Lee.
It is not strictly classed as a Novel Model, but it is a bit
different as it carries a Video camera
Model is 8' wingspan (veneered foam) and is powered
by a Super Tigre 61
to push it along. This of course is to keep a clear
frontal view for the camera. The model weighes in at
14 lbs. (with the 3 lb. camera). Finished
I should not have to make excuses for including it in these pages, as it has our Web Site printed across the top wing, & anyway its MY SITE!
All the way from Kansas came these photos of models by
Randy Linderman. In
his own words: "This is the launch of my OS 61 powered
witch, flew horrible the first couple of years, doubled
the size of the elevator and she is now a pure
pussycat! Black cat I am sure. Kit came from 'Zimpro'
Company in Tennesse, USA."
"Nice shot taken by a friend .... the legs swing at
will ... she does great loops!"
"I have just finished (12 Feb) this flying stop sign,
not yet flown. I been doing this stuff for a bit over ten years ...
Randy certainly is trying hard to get as many models as possible on
to the site. Just received (22 Feb) this picture of his latest project.
Here is the finished model, subsequently flown - but not
too successfully. Lack of rearward fin area seemed to
be the problem. Model is now under repair and modification.
May '06 - Andy Johnson has just bought this 'Thunderbird 2' model. Had some trouble trying
to take off. Power by a ducted propellor inside the fuselage.
See also rear view of the model.
A Pink elephant made by Kelvin Smith, (of the Oldham club) Quite a handful to fly.
Keep up the good work - how about some pics from somebody else?
P.S.
If anyone has any ideas/plans/drawings for a possible
candidate for a model, we would be grateful.
We could pass them on to aspiring team members.
