Thanet CAMRA The Thanet Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale The Thanet Branch of CAMRA- the Campaign for Real Ale has been in existence since September 1975. It covers the eastern tip of the County of Kent, an area known as the Isle of Thanet. This former island contains the towns of Margate - a popular if now run down seaside resort, Ramsgate - a hopefully up and coming commercial port and Broadstairs - a seaside town associated with Charles Dickens (he visited & wrote some of his books here). The branch has around 130 members, which for an area of around 150,000 souls is very disappointing. More disappointing though is that active members amount to only around six or seven dedicated souls. |
