TIGERTAILZ DISCOGRAPHY

Rather than present the usual run of band albums & singles stuff, we've tried to make this a bit more interesting by including some of our memories while we were recording them. Hope you like it.

We plan to section this area into Albums & Singles in the near future but for now only the main Tailz Albums are shown...

Album Memories:
Well, this was our first ‘official’ album release. Although, we had recorded many of these songs on a self financing project with our manager (who, at the time was also managing Tokyo Blade) this was our first record for Music For Nations.

We actually recorded this in two weeks (yes, 2 weeks) and it was hard going. The songs were very raw and we produced what we felt at the time was a very rock n roll album. However, we were not satisfied with certain songs. Mainly, Shoot To Kill which we had recorded for our first 12” EP.This track seemed to have lost something in the recording of Young & Crazy and sounded more like trumpets playing the intro riff rather than crunching guitar.

We also had a nightmare with the Album cover design...  MFN had used their internal design people and they came up with a fluffy looking ‘Pink’ cover.  It looked awful and we took control,  Pepsi redesigned the sleeve which was eventually the finished product. This was Pepsi’s step into producing our Tailz branding and we never looked back.

Young & Crazy gained mainly good reviews and certainly got us noticed. There didn’t seem to be an issue of Kerrang without a picture or review of us in it. We toured the UKexetensively playing just about everywhere we could and gained a lot of support. Our support bands at the time were Wolfsbane & The Choir Boys.   We also toured in Europe with Tokyo Blade which brings back some good (and not so good) memories - take a lot a the tour Gallery.

This culminated in a double night at the famous London Marquee club in Wardof Street  Although, we had played there before, it was a real honour to do two nights in a row and we managed to sell-out which was a real achievement.

If we're honest about it, Young & Crazy wasn't our finest hour (that was yet to come). However, it did put us on the map and greater things were yet to come...

Music For Nations (MFN)
Chris Tsangarides (Chris Tangerballs)
Gordon Bonner (Great Linford) & Tim Lewis (Loco)

Great Linford Manor Milton Keynes, Loco Studios Usk, Wales
, Battery Studios, London
Kim Hooker (Vocals)
Jay Pepper (Guitar)
Pepsi Tate (Bass)
Ace Finchum (Drums)

Thighpaulsandra (Keyboards)

Album Memories:
Oh god, the first memory with Bezerk was Ace collapsing on the very first day of recording.  The doctor was called and checked him out and he appeared to be physically ok but was suffering mentally due to various personal problems.  Luckily, Ace managed to complete the drum tracks and went home to rest.  However, for the rest of us is was party time...

For the first stages of recording we were based at the Great Linford Manor Studio in Milton Keynes England and were booked in there for 2-3 months.  We used to have our own Chef and a daily allocation of alcohol which didn't amount to much so we saved it up all week and invited our friends up on the weekend. As you can imagine we were going literally 'Bezerk' and ended up wrecking the place many times. On one occsaion, Pepsi and his mate had to go out to the DIY store and buy wood to repair all the bedroom doors as Pepsi had proceeded to kick each one off its hinges whilst in a drunken frenzy.

Another time we had a crockery fight in the kitchen (you've got to remember this was a very old listed building) which resulted in a £1,000 bill for broken china - all Pepsi's clothes ended up in the outside stream and he was not happy.

Not to leave Chris Tangerballs (producer) out of the fun, Jay & Pepsi left him a little treat one night in the form of some very smelly stuff in either side of his bedside cabinets...  Yes, the dirty bastards had actually shit on plates and left them in Chris' bedroom which, as yuo can imagine, stunk to high heaven..  Luckily, Chris saw the funny side and smeared it all over his body (just joking, he went fucking mental and threw it out the window)...

After the mental goings on at the Great Linford Manor we moved on to Loco Studios Usk in South Wales...

At Loco we hooked up with our old friend Tim Lewis. We had agreed with Chris Tangerballs to let Tim produce the guitar solos and some vocal stuff at Loco as Chris had to go to Japan to do another project.

As always, Tim produced some fantastic results and got some great performances out of us.  We are forever indebted to Tim and owe him a great deal.

Kim Hooker (Vocals)
Jay Pepper (Guitar)
Pepsi Tate (Bass)
Ace Finchum (Drums)

Thighaulsandra (Keyboards & Backing Vocals)

Album Memories:
Banzai was a compilation of various 'B' sides from some of our previous singles. We always felt that certain songs were recorded as 'B' sides but turned out to be almost to good to waste on the back of a single.

The one song that really springs to mind is 'Murderess'.. This was one of our favourite Tailz tunes and we felt it deserved better.  Therefore, when Sony asked for a record for Japan they also gave us the chance to give these songs more exposure.

Banzai also contains some additional song s such as 'Taking The Pain' (which we wrote specifically for this record) and two cover songs, Metallica's 'Creeping Death' and Megadeath's 'Peace Sells' (check out the Music section where you can download these songs on MP3 for FREE).

We recorded these songs in the Coach House Studios in Bristol where there were some unusual events to say the least

Banzai has turned out to be a rare Tigertailz album and people always ask us where you can get it.  We are trying to get Sony to re-issue the Album but this will take some time.  However, in the mean time Music section on this site to download some of the songs.  Alternatively, we have seen people selling Banzai on the Internet but the price is very high at around $80..

Various studios in Wales
Kim Hooker (Vocals)
Cy Danhar (Guitar)
Pepsi Tate (Bass)
Andy Skinner (Drums)

Album Memories:
Wazbones was a story of  'two' albums and a great deal of heartache for Tigertailz.

We originally recorded Wazbones for Amuse America (US only) who were our record company after moving on from MFN.  We recorded the original 'Wazbones' album iin Monnow Valley & Rockfield Studios, Wales and Costa Mesa Studios California in the US.

After the collapse of the Amuse deal and Jay leaving the band, we finally recorded Wazbones in Wales with our new Guitarist Cy Danahar.  This whole period is a bit vague as we spent so much time in Pepsi's studio writing new songs and re-arranging older songs.

We finally finished Wazbones and toured the UK with the new line-up...

More Tailz recording memories to come soon.......
