The story so far 5

The pictures in Gallery 5 show the what I am up against. These parts are salvageable. Time to get out the wire brush. Maybe a more aggressive method is needed to save these parts. Power tools are the answer ! After several days and nights with the drill and wire brush attachments I have a few shelves of parts ready for painting.

My workshop floor does not seem to have cleared too much even though the shelves have loads of restored parts on them. More worrying is another visit is planned to collect yet more parts from Ron that have turned up amongst his vast collection of cars. Did I mention that the bodyshell has not been collected yet ?

Apart from de-rusting and painting there are loads of nuts and bolts to be replaced. All but the captive nuts and bolts are being replaced. I probably now have the largest private collection of nuts, bolts and washers in the South.

Problems are going to arise throughout and if you look closely at the picture above you can see my first sheared bolt. Eventually the drill won and the brake calliper was free. Luckily the thread survived to take the new bolt. Callipers are going to be refurbished professionally.
