So here is our first Internet Web Page, started last Friday and ready for publication today. I must confess that when I started this I had little or no idea of what use it was going to be, but like past similar experiences with word processors, spreadsheets, fax machines, computers and indeed the Internet , the more you use 'em the more you realise the potential. Anyway, watch this space - lots more to come! Now let's see if I can load it onto the "world wide web". With thanks to AOLPress for the fantastic programme that made this possible, and to Koon for the marble.

Sorry, but this page is temporarily knackered due to the site manager having accidentally and irretrievably deleted all the files for this edition. For some reason as yet unknown to him the next edition doesn't work yet.

Well, we've now got 7 pages with links and pictures and all sorts of stuff. It took a lot of time and learning but with the weather we've had for most of the last week the Purley Chase Golf Swamp didn't look very inviting, and was in fact closed for most of the time. But the sun is shining now, God knows for how long.

If you look at "history" you'll see a strange little editorial dated 30th April which, I believe , speaks for itself. To elaborate, this edition should have been published on that day and after a week of hard work I pressed the button on the FTP editor and down the tubes it went. Then I opened our own site on the web and of the 6 pages that should have appeared, only 2 did and half of the contents of them were missing or didn't work! Now the whole setup had looked fine on AOLpress, my computer editor, and so I was horrified to see this vandalism. In sheer horror and panic I tried to load the backup of the only previous edition and erased it by mistake, hence the temporary panic edition. And the answer to the problem? Unlike the editor, the web publisher is case sensitive to all filenames and links, which is to say Photos.gif must in all references be typed as just that and not photos.gif, PHOTOS.GIF or pHoToS.gIf (heaven forbid). Or how to spend a few hours scratching your head and checking every b****y thing else first. Which is where the "Webmonkey" thank you (bottom right) comes in - their HTML cheatsheet and basic lessons are invaluable when the WYSIWYG programmes don't work any longer.

To all (and probably most) who are not in the least bit interested in the technicalities, sorry about the boring tale above. The editorial is, for the most part my own diary.

Congratulations to Kit and Kung for getting the visa, after months of haggling with the British embassy in Bangkok. Hope to see you soon.

Welcome to edition 3, just a few things tidied up since the last edition. I did intend to give all 7 pages a "corporate" identity, which is to say uniformity throughout . The truth is I got bored editing in that style and found it too easy to forget where I was, hence the mishmash of styles and colours through the pages - although less of a mishmash than before. But if you look at the "TJ One Man Band" site, you will notice that my discipline had improved by then!

Welcome to edition 4, with very little changed from edition 3 - just a dozen or so more photos in that section and odds and bits here & there. But if you look at the one man band site you will notice quite a bit more than there was a week ago, I have not just been playing golf in the last week. But I did break 90 with one of the golf scores I didn't get!

... and before you say anything, no, there isn't much changed from the last edition. But some 2 weeks ago I decided to upgrade to 128 megabytes of RAM and, despite having done this upgrade a hundred times before, managed to banjax the computer this time, I don't know how, I don't know why! So while it was being fixed I got Eclipse computers to upgrade the chip to P600 and somehow or another that generated 2 weeks of problems. You realise how much you use and depend upon a computer when it ain't there.

Not much changed on the family site, but plenty more on the one man band page. A big Welcome home to Kit & Kung, the phone hasn't stopped ringing since ...

In its 8 week history this site has grown in size from 437kb to 3.4 megabytes, mainly due to the photo album which is, I think, now easier to look at - and has more pictures in it. My little bit of hair is now greyer than it was before ...

The quickest update since I started this site - 1 day!! With the new frames and arrangement of the photo pages the download times were ludicrous. So I edited all jpg picture files to 25k. The result is a hardly noticeable reduction of quality, a halving of the size of the site to 1.8 megabytes and, hopefully, slick downloads to your computer ... let's see ...

So here, after months of neglect (working on the one-man-band site), I now present the "new look" family site. There's little here that wasn't here before - it just looks prettier. But to see the "little" go to Useful Tools.

Congratulations to Deb & Ed on their marriage. Yes I know, it was nearly 6 weeks ago, but I ran out of space and had to find a new home for the "one man band" site. Anyway, here at last are the pictures of the party. Click here or go to the photo album.

Congratulations to David James on his 18th birthday - which isn't till this Thursday, the 2nd of November, but the "family" party was at the weekend. David will undoubtedly be having the "proper" party with his mates on the night - when he's legally old enough to drink (!!).
Click here for pictures or go to the photo album.

Congratulations to Barbara on finally making the 50s club. We're not sure when her birthday was but the party was on Friday the 17th November 2000.
Despite having been fooled into believing that she was going out for a "quiet meal" you can see that she looked radiant as ever.
Click here for pictures or go to the photo album.

Our last port of call before returning to soggy England was the Diana Inn at Pattaya Beach (Thailand) ... which arranged daily golf trips, massages by the swimming pool, and utterly superb food, of which the opposite picture is a tiny example.

5.50 mb A tribute to Uncle Ivan, who died on Tuesday at midnight after a long stay in Walsgrave hospital.
He was a Gentleman - who, despite considerable discomfort and sometimes pain, did his best to remain cheerful until the end. He will be sadly missed. His funeral will be at Canley Crematorium on Thursday the 3rd May at 10.45 AM, flowers to Isons, Allesley Old Road.

Hello, and look what happened to Tourcoing, France after my drunken grandparents went through the place on the way to a beer festival. I really don't understand how they managed to flood the place, but click here to see the pictures and find out ... or better still click here to see pictures of me. I am now 6 weeks old and weigh 5 kilos (11lb).

Now look at this, a friend of Grandad's playing golf in October. Grandad says it's great fun ... and I suppose the weather is more like August ... but hitting a little ball round a field ... really! Better to click here and see pictures of me. I am now 2 months old and weigh 6 kilos (13lb).

Hi Folks ... say hello to Terry the Tiger who came back from Thailand with me and guards this website from viruses and disasters ... I think !! I am now over 8 months old, weigh 10 kilos (22lb), and nearly have 2 teeth. If you click the little picture below you can see my album.

6.50 mb This is grandad's favourite picture of the year, me inspecting our new house at Daimler Green. We finally moved in a few weeks ago and it's nice to have a bit more room.
Grandad apologises for the fact that the website hasn't changed much lately - but he's been busy playing at Bob the Builder.
Anyway, here's wishing you all a very happy Christmas and New Year.

7.5mb Hi Everybody ... and having returned from Thailand some 2 months ago we're sorry it took so long to get around to updating this website ... but with yet another new house, grandad's been forever painting, digging and hanging curtains & light fittings.
His excuses then run that he's had to change the website domain ... had to update his computer ... had to update the Frontpage software that he uses to edit  this site ... had to update his digital camera ... and that none of this has been easy.
This all, to me, sounds like lame excuses for someone who plays golf a lot.
