MV Southend Britannia

Builders: John I Thorneycroft & Co Ltd 1924

Propulsion type: Motor, twin parafin engines.

Owners: Charles & Arthur Myall

Service dates: 1924 - ??

Tonnage: Gross 147

Comments:

This vessel used to operate at high tide from short, mobile landing platforms from Southend seafront. The boat was larger than she looked but was spoiled by having two funnels (the forward a dummy) and two masts, which gave her a crowded appearance. She was used for local trips around Southend and has a passenger certificate to carry 400 people.
