Comments:
Lincoln Castle replaced Killingholme on the River Humber and was similar to Tattershall Castle and Wingfield Castle, although her funnel was forward of the paddle boxes, which gave her a more balanced profile. Whilst principally a ferry, all three steamers operated excursion trips in the summer. Lincoln Castle had space for 20 cars on her aft deck and 1200 passengers. Fares for the ferry were six shillings and twopence ("six and tuppence") return in saloon class and four shillings and eight pence ( "four and eightpence " or about 23p in today's money) on deck. She was withdrawn in 1973 and is preserved statically. She has recently launched her own website which can be accessed by clicking here.
