Comments:
Launched on 18 April 1885, this impressive ship was particularly well proportioned, as can be seen from this fine card posted in May 1909, when the sender travelled from Douglas to Liverpool, after a stay on the Isle of Man. Mona's Queen (II) and her consort, Mona's Isle (III) both had magnificent compound oscillating engines, the only members of the IOMSP Cos fleet to have them. Mona's Queen was employed on the Fleetwood - Douglas and Liverpool services. In the First World War she was employed as a troop carrier and even managed to sink a German submarine. After reconditioning at Cammell Laird's yard in 1919 she saw a further ten years service for the company and was scrapped at Port Glasgow in 1929, when she was deemed to be too outdated.
