This picture, comes from the W E Groom collection and has been kindly supplied by his grand daughter, Victoria.
Launched on 27 February 1907, with a length of 311 feet, TS Victoria was built by Denny's for the South Eastern and Chatham Railways. She was acquired by the IoMSP in 1928, with whom she remained for the rest of her career. Powered by 3 direct drive steam turbines she could produce some 800 RHP. She saw war service as a troop carrier from Liverpool and later Fleetwood (due to the air raids on Liverpool doocks). She was holed by a magnetic mine in the Mersey and was towed back to Liverpool for repairs. In 1943 she was sent to Southampton and employed for infantry landings on D day. She landed infantry at Arromanches and Utah beaches, reverting to a personnel carrier and hospital ship. After the war she was returned to her owners for secondary services and excursion work. She was broken up at Barry early in 1957.
