Comments:

Westward Ho was the first Bristol Channel steamer to have topside plating and a promenade deck to the bows. Extensively reconditioned in 1912, she received a new boiler and navy topped funnel. In 1920 her saloons were fitted with ports instead of windows. This wonderful postcard shows her in the earlier condition. Most of her career was spent on excursion work in the Bristol Channel, but in 1932-3 she sailed from Torquay and Plymouth to Falmouth, Penzance and Weymouth. In 1934 she had a short spell on South Coast service. A beautiful and elegant boat, she was sadly too worn out after service in the Second World War and she was scrapped in 1946.
