In the Summer of 1998 we decided to try to convert a four door MK1 Cortina to a two door MK1. There were several reasons (they all seemed good reasons at the time) why we wanted to try this, but I had a lot of two door panels available and thought a two door would be nicer.
Terry Burville, who used to make a lot of repair panels for many Ford cars, spent a day with me to try to make it work.
It does not work! We decided it was not worth the effort required. We would still end up with a rusty shell requiring a lot of work.
The following photo shows that the angle of the C post is different between the two-door car and the four-door car. The end result was that we broke up the four door car. I did this reluctantly, although there was considerable rust damage -- not apparent when we first started.

Above shows the mis-match between the top of the C-post and the roof. The rusty piece of metal is a metal tube we welded in to support the roof prior to cutting.

Another view of the car showing the two-door door fitted and a reinforcement tube welded-in prior to removing the rear quarter panel.

And finally, the mis-match again. We only spent a day on this, it was sunny and the company was good. Thanks Terry!
