Spare Parts

Newfords have spares for many old Fords. They have a web-site, and can be contacted by e-mail at newfordpartscentre@btinternet.com but you may be better to phone them on 01254 830343 Dale Stevenson is very knowledgeable about Cortinas, and has a vast amount of spares. Best to phone /fax him on 01509 264550 between 4.30 and 8.30pm.

I've just had some spare parts for Weber 28/36 from Gower and Lee a UK-based company who have been very helpful. Twin Cam Services. Australia's Largest Independent English Ford and Lotus Specialists. Lots of stuff for Lotus Cortina and Escort drivers/racers.  
Burton Power have been specialists in Ford performance parts and accessories for 39 years. I must have bought stuff from them in the late 1960s !!. If you like to pay more than you should (but occasionally pick up a real bargain), try www.ebay.co.uk , which is an on-line auction. Type in the search word Cortina and you'll often get upwards of 200 items. Not all MK1 though!  For all your steel panel requirements, try Ex-Pressed Steel Panels, at www.steelpanels.co.uk
For polyurethane bushes for all sorts of vehicles (MK1 of course) try www.deflex.co.uk . ""Deflex material is a specially formulated high resilience elastomer (polyurethane) with exceptional shock absorbing properties, offering good hydrolysis and mechanical properties"".  Phew, glad they told me that!!! They are VERY helpful; I have spoken to them on the phone 01745 360070, ask for Stuart Mason. (Tried and approved by Tommy)  A new company dealing in the 105E Anglia are here, www.105speed.com  They have a number of interesting items, including a complete alternator conversion "package". Some interesting exhaust manifolds being developed too. Well worth a visit!
Have a look at quality-components for lots of period rally equipment and other accessories. Well worth a look.  Bresco have been around for some 25 years. Chances are, that packet of trim clips you've been saving came from them originally. They supply trim clips, fasteners, motifs and fixings for the automotive and classic car restoration markets.  
Vehicle Wiring Products, best place for wiring, accessories, in fact anything to do with electrics on your Cortina or other car. Recommended! If you are looking for second-hand or new books, try www.booksearch.com. Be careful of the prices though, some are double what the book is actually worth!
Stevsonmotors.co.uk can recondition your front MacPherson struts for around £75 per side. They also sell Goodridge brake hoses with a "for ever" guarantee!!!!
