The RAF Small-Arms Association (RAFSAA)
held its annual Target Pistol Championships over the period of 5th to
7th April 02. The competition was held at the NSRA Air Gun Range and NRA
Melville Range at Bisley Camp England.
The aim of the championship weekend
was to conduct a shoulder-to-shoulder, target pistol competition to decide
the order of merit of RAF and Associate Target Pistol shooters. The underlying
aim of the championships is to promote the skills and principles of marksmanship
and range discipline in RAF personnel, in keeping with RAFSAA policy.
The competition began on Friday
with a centre fire match held on Melville range. This full bore pistol match
set the tone for the weekend with Chief Technician Prictor beating Sergeant
Crowe and Squadron Leader Jago to win the Halton Cup. This result was to
be repeated in the majority of disciplines throughout the weekend. On Sunday,
the final day, Chief Technician Prictor was victorious at the 10 metre Air
Pistol match by 2 points to beat Sgt Crowe into second place and to win
the over all competition to become RAFSAA Target Pistol Champion for the
year 2002.
