Boothstown Festival

There have been festivals and carnivals in Boothstown for many decades.

The modern Boothstown Festival was a well established annual event which enabled voluntary groups and charities to raise funds. It is estimated that over £40,000 was raised in the festival's first ten years.

The highlight of the festival is the Festival Day, when the Festival Parade winds its way from Mosley Common to Boothstown village. The parade is the culmination of much preparation. The picture below was taken as finishing touches were being applied to the Boothstown Junior Football Club float in June 2000.

Because of organisational and traffic problems there was no festival in 2004. It is hoped that the event can be resurrected in the future. Here are some images from previous years:

Boothstown Wobble

The Boothstown Wobble is an annual 5 mile fun run which attracts both serious competitors and fun joggers. The 17th Wobble took place on Sunday 7 October 2001. As usual over 800 runners, representing all ages and abilities, took part. The start and finish point was the Standfield Centre, runners returning via Worsley Old Hall, the East Lancashire Road and Mosley Common. The 2001 event was supported by Boothstown Junior Football Club, and some of the players are in the picture below.
