Shown below is detail from the 1829 map of Lancashire by G. Hennet. The local place names are still familiar today. Note that Boothstown was referred to in those days as Booth Town. A short distance to the north Little Manchester refers to the village which has become known as New Manchester. One common error on maps of this period is the reference to Chadwick Hall instead of Chaddock Hall. |
