The Traditional Wooden Dummy Company was founded
with one goal, to build and supply high quality, hand crafted solid Tulip
hardwood Wooden dummies either on a standard frame or freestanding at a
reasonable cost. It is estimated that the average martial artist will spend at
least 85% of their time practicing alone, since all of the combat techniques of
Wing Chun system come from the wooden dummy form, this aspect of Wing Chun
training is an essential element for the correct understanding of the system
and application of techniques, therefore training with the wooden dummy (Muk
Yan Jong) is an excellent way to maximize the benefits of solo training. The
Company researched and tested our designs with Sifu's to ensure that our
customers receive only the very best in quality and design.
The wooden dummy form and techniques consist of a
systematic set of movements which are quite different from the wooden dummy
techniques of other Martial arts. The Wing Chun wooden dummy techniques utilise
the essential movements and positions of the Wing Chun system and combine the
most advanced parts of all the fighting forms of the Wing Chun system. There
are 116 techniques in the dummy form, including 16 leg techniques/kicks (8 with
each leg) and through correct use of the wooden dummy a practitioner can train
and improve their positions, power, mobility, speed, accuracy of strikes and
fluidity of movement, whilst enhancing their timing, correct application of
force, correct understanding of distance and coordination while enhancing the
reflexes. |
