There have been a few interesting rumours bounding around : this was sent to COOLIST...
"The latest word is that the new band (with added extra members, since Peter X will be playing guitar) will play festivals and dates in the UK, Europe and America in the Summer. A single will be released in late spring (probably "I will fix you" but not finally decided). The new album will be released in the
summer.  It is better than their earlier stuff, although that was, of course, superb.  Standout tracks for me are "Sixties B-I-T-C-H"(sorry about the hyphens, this page has an automatic bad language alarm. I promise you, that's what the song is called!) "Lunch at Lassiters", "Stay in the Sun" and "Nobody
wants you" as well as "I will fix you". The album also includes an extraordinary range of styles which will , I promise you, ASTOUND!! Watch out for Lauren appearing on "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" on Friday next (March 27th). Peter is presently writing the next album in his attic studio...."
I think Lauren and her unique sense of humour is on NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS next friday but it could be the 27th (this friday) so keep an eye on both!

KFC have said that EMI have decided to release the first single from the new album in may. The single will be "I will Fix you". It apparently isn`t on suggested album listings, but KFC reckon it may be added.

Someone sent me an email saying Kenickie are playing Leicester in April.  So hopefully a full tour is afoot!  Also theres been mutterings of a March release date for the new single and the girls seem to have been doing TV / magazine etc alot more recently!
Lauren has been on Light Lunch and will soon be appearing again on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.  Marie has been supermodel to the teenage market by appearing in Just 17!

"Things are always fluffy and cuddly in popstar land, you know, and even chart toppers have to come down to earth with a bump sometimes.  Take LAUREN KENICKIE for instance, who went down with more than just a bump while boogying on down in a Newcastle nightclub.
The poor little honey had had one too many fizzy panda pops and slipped over on some split beer when she was doing her best John Travolta impression on the dancefloor.
She then spent the rest of her evening sobering up in casualty and having a few thousand stitches put into a nasty leg injury just for good measure.  Honestly the lengths some people will go to to get attention."

"Kenickies forthcoming release "Get In" is finished and will be in the shops in the summer"

Dated 10 November 1997 - Source : KFC Guestbook

According to two posts on the KFC guestbook (apparently from Lauren and X)....the second Kenickie album is halfway completed and is being recorded in the southeast of England with Adrian Bushby (Spice Girls) and Johnny X producing. The working title for the album is "El Bastardo"
The posts said the album is twelve songs long with the first single being "Psychic Defence" to be released at the end of the year.
Other songs mentioned include "Weeknights", "Magnatron", "I will fix you", "Lunch at Lassiters", "Something's got to give", "Sixties Bitch" and the unusually titled "My big knob"!
The Kenix are apparently returning to the bands that originally inspired them such as Slint, Pavement, Stereolab and Sonic Youth.. Johnny X said he was now playing guitar to allow Lauren to "croon and dance a bit more"
The post apparently from Lauren also said she was moving house in 2 weeks and Marie has had pneumonia.
