"She's dead, Jim!" McCoy turned off the monitors above Yeoman Janice Rand's sick bay couch. "What happened down there?"
"I tried, Bones. I really tried to save her," Kirk said, his eyes bleak with remorse and fatigue.
"I'm sure you did." McCoy patted Kirk's shoulder. "But what actually happened? You were gone for days, then you arrived back here weak and exhausted. That must have been some ritual you went through."
"It was unbelievable, Bones: I thought it would never end," Kirk said wearily. "You see, there was this cave full of women who took off all my clothes, and…"
