This has been developed from an idea first mooted   by Debbie Wilson from the Resource Centre in   1999.  It seems that Debbie hit a nerve, an   untapped reservoir of enthusiasm for digging and   planting, which it is easy to see is echoed in the   nation at large.

to create a Community Garden   within the grounds of the Thistle   Foundation, Edinburgh.

Alexey Janes, from the Greenbelt Trust, undertook to   provide us with some initial sketch plans and to help   us with applying for grants. He said that a   development period of one to two years was not   unusual for garden projects. Rushing into things   without proper planning and design would be bound   to lead to disappointment.

Despite the expected delay before we could hope to   see anything actually happening on the ground, our   enthusiasm is undiminished and now at last we are   beginning to see the planned changes taking shape.
