Well, this is it - our humble abode, currently the subject of an ongoing restoration programme.A traditional three bedroomed, semi-detached house, completed in 1956 (according to the inscription on the chimney in the loft) and originally overlooking nothing but fields (hence Crest View), it has since been extended to include a utility and downstairs W.C., an extended kitchen and the lounge has been knocked through from the original two rooms.
We moved in during April 2000. Unfortunately, the entire property was seriously afflicted with flowery wallpaper when we moved in, coupled with other DIY attempts that make my work look like that of a craftsman! We're getting there though, and you'll be able to see the results here as they happen.
First up is the hallway. Originally a nice 70's look with the veneered handrail on the stairs (and the obligatory flowery wallpaper, of course), with the help of Simon, we installed a new handrail and newel posts to create the splendid staicase you see here. Add to this a dark laminate flooring, new skirting and a lick of paint and hey, presto! a darned fine looking hallway!
