According to Jennings
   by Anthony Buckeridge

The irrepressible Jennings is undaunted. The pool is out of bounds because of repainting, but nevertheless he persuades the wretched Darbishire to creep in and practise swimming without putting his feet on the bottom. Unfortunately the pair have to hide hastily in a freshly painted changing cubicle when Mr Carter and Mr Wilkins stroll in, with the result that Darbishire has to return to the dormitory wearing his flippers while Jennings conceals his paint-smeared hands in boxing gloves.

Such hair raising and hilarious adventures are typical of Jennings' whole school career. There is the time during the space travel craze when Jennings gets his head stuck in a glass dome; the time he locks that irascible "Old Boy" General Merridew in the library; the alarm clock leaving present for Mr Wilkins that goes off just at the wrong time; and the visit to the country cricket match when Darbishire accidentally "shops" Mr Wilkins as a thief. That is the trouble with Jennings, simple things always seem to become very complicated whenever he takes charge!

Another of Anthony Buckeridge's well-known and much-loved books about Jennings and his friends, whose entertaining adventures have already been told on television, radio, films, records, in stage plays and on tape cassette. The books have been translated into twelve languages and sold more than three million copies. Now they have been completely re-edited by the author, so a new generation of young readers will revel in each really funny story about Jennings and his adventures.
